Export a PDF or a video
Turn a finished project into a page-by-page PDF, a story video, or a portable project archive — and what to do when export fails.

Open the project and tap Export
From Projects, open the book you want, then tap Export & share. The screen offers PDF, video, and editable project formats.Choose a format
- PDF book — one generated cover and one portrait PDF page per story page.
- Story video (MP4) — still pages show for two seconds; page videos play for up to eight seconds.
- Editable project (.ddstory) — pages and source media for backup or moving to another device. Previously exported PDF and MP4 files are not included.
Tip. All three export formats are free. Selectable paper sizes and commercial-print bleed are not available yet.
Check sound before exporting
Open each page’s Sound screen to preview narration, choose whether to include the page video’s sound, and set its levels. Story music is set once for the whole project. The current export screen has no page-size or timing controls.Wait for the render
Video export is the slowest thing the app does, because it renders every frame on your device. A ten-page book with narration takes a few minutes on a mid-range phone. Keep the app in the foreground while it works.Share or save
When it finishes, the file opens in your phone’s normal share sheet. Save it to Files, send it to a printer, email it, or post it wherever you like. The app does not upload it anywhere on your behalf.
What ends up in the video
On Android, underneath the visual track, the app mixes:
- each page video’s own sound, at that page’s position on the timeline;
- each page’s narration, clipped to that page’s duration;
- your story music, looped across the whole thing.
If you turned on Lower music under narration, the music drops so the voice stays clear.
Audio mixing is Android-only for now
Full audio mixing in video export currently ships on Android. On other platforms
the video exports without the mixed audio layers. PDF export is identical
everywhere. This is a known gap and it is on the roadmap.
Printing at home
The current portrait PDF works well for reading on a device and can be printed at home with your PDF viewer’s fit-to-page option. It is not a commercial-print file: there is no selectable paper size, crop marks, or bleed.

If export fails
See export problems. The most common causes are not enough free storage on the device and backgrounding the app mid-render.
