Getting started with Doodle Dragon Studio

Install the app, understand the four main screens, and make your first page in about ten minutes.

  1. Install the app and open it

    Download Doodle Dragon Studio from the App Store or Google Play. On first launch you land on a welcome screen that explains what the app is for. You do not need an account to draw, edit, or export.

    Tip. If you only want to try the drawing and export tools, skip signing in entirely and come back to it later.

  2. Decide whether to sign in

    Signing in with Google or Apple is only required for Studio Plus — the AI creation tools, credit balance, and optional cloud backup. The welcome screen asks you to confirm you are 18 or over before the AI sign-in button is enabled.

    Children use the app alongside you. They do not get accounts.

  3. Learn the four tabs

    • Projects — your books, drafts, and templates. This is home.
    • Create — make standalone artwork by drawing, importing a photo or sketch, using AI when available, or editing an existing Library image.
    • Library — every picture, clip, and sound in the app, labelled by where it came from.
    • Account — your plan, credits, privacy settings, accessibility, and sign-out.

  4. Make something small first

    Tap Create, choose Draw something, and draw anything — thirty seconds of scribble is fine. Tap Done. The artwork is saved into Library without creating a book, so you can reuse or share it later.

    Tip. Autosave is everywhere in this app. There is no save button because you never need one.

  5. Put it in a book

    Open Projects, make a new book, edit a page, and choose the saved artwork from Library. Add or edit the page text underneath it.

  6. Export it

    Tap Export, choose PDF, and share it to yourself. Standard PDF and video export are free and work offline. You have now done the whole loop — everything else is a refinement of these five minutes.

What this app is for

Doodle Dragon Studio turns things your family already made — drawings, photos, half-remembered stories — into finished illustrated books. A parent or caregiver drives it. Children draw, tell the story, and watch it come together.

It is not a toy that a child is handed to use alone, and it is not a machine that invents pictures of imaginary children. The pictures start as yours.

Before you start

You need a phone or tablet running Android 7.0 or later, or iOS 15 or later. You do not need an internet connection to draw, edit, lay out, narrate, or export.

You will want an internet connection and a Studio Plus subscription if you want the app to generate illustrations, write a first draft of a story, produce narration, or make short video clips.
