Doodle Dragon Studio is free to draw, edit, and export. Studio Plus adds AI illustration, story drafts, narration, and video by subscription.

Two plans, one clear line

The line is simple and we do not move it: if it runs on your device, it’s free. If it needs a third-party AI service, it needs Studio Plus.

Basic editing is a normal phone operation. Adjusting a photo’s warmth or choosing a look is not a premium feature and we are not going to pretend it is. Generating an illustration genuinely costs us money each time, so that is what a subscription pays for.

What a subscription actually buys

Not “unlimited AI” — nobody can honestly offer that, because every generation has a real cost behind it. What you get is a monthly allowance of credits and full visibility into what each action spends.

An illustration is 1 credit. A story draft is 1 credit. Narration is 2. A short Economy video clip is 1. A Cinematic eight-second clip is 16, because it costs roughly sixteen times as much to produce.

Why not unlimited?

Because we would then have to either lose money on the people who use it most, or quietly throttle them and pretend we hadn’t. Credits are less comfortable to market and more honest to live with. You always know where you stand, and you never get a surprise.

Free is not a trial

There is no countdown, no watermark, no page cap, and no nag screen. A family that draws their own pictures, writes their own words, records a parent reading it, and exports a PDF pays nothing, forever. That is a legitimate way to use this app and plenty of people should.

Refunds

Purchases, renewals, and refunds are handled by Apple and Google. See manage your subscription for how to request one.

Separately, if an individual AI generation fails or is refused, its credits come back automatically without you asking.

Pricing questions

Is there a free version?
Yes, and it is a real one. Drawing, photo editing, unlimited projects and pages, narration you record yourself, music, PDF export, and video export are all free forever. No watermark, no page limit, no trial countdown. Studio Plus adds the AI creation tools.
How much does Studio Plus cost?
Prices are set per country by your app store and shown in the app in your own currency, including local taxes. In the United States we are launching around $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year. Always trust the price your store shows you over any figure on this page.
Do I need a subscription to keep my books?
No. Your projects stay on your device and you can keep opening, editing, and exporting them whether or not you subscribe. Existing cloud backups remain available to restore, while creating or updating cloud backups requires Studio Plus.
What happens to unused credits?
Credits belong to the month they were granted in and do not currently roll over. You can spend them any time before your period ends.
Do annual subscribers get all the credits at once?
No. Annual subscribers receive credits monthly, exactly like monthly subscribers. It keeps the allowance predictable and it is fairer if you cancel part-way through the year.
Can I buy extra credits?
Not yet. Credit packs are planned once we understand how much people actually use. If you regularly run out, tell us — that data is what decides whether we build it.
Is there a family or education plan?
Not at launch. If you are a teacher or run a group that would use this, email us and tell us what you need.
How do I cancel?
Through your app store, not in the app. See manage your subscription for the exact steps on iOS and Android.
