Privacy policy

What Doodle Dragon Studio collects, what it never collects, where your pictures go, how long anything is kept, and how to get your data deleted.

Last updated: 20 August 2026

Draft pending legal review This policy is a plain-English draft prepared alongside the app. It must be reviewed by qualified counsel and confirmed against our final launch geography and vendor agreements before the app ships publicly.

The short version

Your projects live on your device by default. A signed-in Studio Plus account can optionally back up selected projects privately to Firebase for recovery and use on another signed-in device. We do not publish or sell your content, and we do not use it to train AI models. Pictures or text leave your phone only when you explicitly enable cloud backup, share or export something, or request an AI action. The app distinguishes backup from AI processing and shows AI inputs before they are sent.

Who we are

Doodle Dragon Studio is operated by MCN Technologies. For any privacy question or request, contact support@mcntech.com.

What we collect

Account information

If you sign in, we receive from Google or Apple: a user identifier, your email address, and your display name if you have one. We use this to identify your account, attach your subscription entitlement to it, and contact you about support.

You do not need an account to draw, edit, or export.

Subscription and credit information

If you subscribe, we store your entitlement status, your credit balance, your credit period, and a record of credit-bearing actions (what type, when, whether it succeeded, and how many credits it cost).

We never see or store your payment details. Apple and Google process all payments.

Content you send for AI processing

When you request an AI action, the relevant content is sent to a third-party provider to fulfil that request. See how your data is used with AI for exactly what is sent, to whom, and what we ask them to do with it.

Depending on the feature, Google processes media understanding, story planning, narration, or video generation. OpenAI processes illustration generation and safety moderation. Temporary generated video files may be held in Firebase Storage for delivery and are marked for deletion after 24 hours.

Technical and diagnostic information

Server-side logs of requests, including timestamps, request identifiers, error codes, and coarse performance data. These exist to keep the service working and to bill credits correctly.

What we do not collect

  • We do not collect projects, drawings, photographs, audio, or video for storage unless you explicitly enable Studio Plus cloud backup for a project.
  • We do not run face recognition or build biometric templates.
  • We do not infer family relationships.
  • We do not collect location data, contacts, or your device’s advertising identifier.
  • We do not create accounts for children or collect a child’s date of birth on our backend. A legacy local settings screen can store a learner name and approximate age on the device; these preferences are not a child login or cloud identity.
  • We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
  • We do not use your content to train AI models, and we ask our providers not to.
  • There is no advertising in the app and no advertising SDKs.

Where your projects are stored

Projects are edited from the app’s private storage on your device, so local work continues without a network connection. If you do not enable cloud backup, uninstalling the app or losing the device can still remove the only copy. Export a .ddstory archive of anything important — see back up and move your projects.

A signed-in Studio Plus account can opt in to private Firebase backup and device sync. A backup contains the editable project manifest and the image, audio, and video files used by that project. Media is deduplicated within the account and is not sent to a generative-AI provider merely because it is backed up. Cloud access is limited to the signed-in account. Conflicting edits from two devices require you to choose which copy to keep; one device does not silently replace the other.

Children

Doodle Dragon Studio is intended for account holders aged 18 or over. It is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Children are expected to use the app alongside an adult — drawing, choosing pictures, telling stories. They do not have accounts. Any name or detail about a child that appears in a project is content the adult typed, stored in that adult’s project on their own device. If the adult enables cloud backup for that project, the same project content is also included in the adult account’s private backup.

If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact support@mcntech.com and we will delete it.

See children and family safety for how we think about this.

Photographs of other people

You are responsible for having the right to use the photographs you import, and for the consent of the people in them. Choosing a file is not a substitute for obtaining that permission; the current app does not show a separate consent checkbox during every import.

Choosing a photo, video, or file through the device’s system picker gives the app access to that selected item, not unrestricted access to the whole library.

Before sending a photo for AI processing, the app strips metadata — location, camera details, timestamps — from the copy it uploads.

How long we keep things

DataRetention
Account recordUntil you delete your account
Subscription and credit ledgerUntil account deletion, then as required for tax and accounting records
Content sent for AI processingNot retained by us after the request completes, except temporary generated delivery files marked for deletion after 24 hours; provider retention is described in data and AI
Server logsA limited period for operations and abuse prevention
Local projectsOn your device until you delete them or remove the app’s data
Optional cloud projectsWhile you keep the backup; Cloud Trash retains a deleted backup for up to 90 days unless you permanently delete it sooner
Older cloud revisionsA limited number may be retained for recovery while the cloud project exists

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing.

To exercise any of these, email support@mcntech.com from the address on your account. You can also delete your account directly in the app — see account deletion.

We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.

Who we share data with

  • Google Firebase — authentication, backend hosting, the credit ledger, and optional private project backup and device sync.
  • RevenueCat — subscription entitlement management.
  • Apple and Google — payment processing for subscriptions.
  • AI providers — only the content required to fulfil a request you made. See data and AI.

We do not share your information with anyone else, and we do not sell it.

International transfers

Our infrastructure and our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

Security

Requests to our backend are authenticated. API keys for AI providers are held server-side and never shipped in the app. Our database is not directly readable by clients. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not take shortcuts on this.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy materially, we will update the date at the top and highlight the change in the app before the change takes effect.
